Batting first, Rohit and Jonny Bairstow gave Mumbai a blazing start, scoring 89 runs in the first six overs. Rohit smashed 81 runs off just 50 balls, hitting nine fours and four sixes. During this innings, he also crossed the milestone of 700 runs and 300 sixes in IPL history. Bairstow added 47 runs off 22 balls, including four fours and three sixes. The duo stitched an 84-run partnership, propelling Mumbai to a strong total. Chasing the target, Gujarat’s captain Shubman Gill was dismissed early for just 1 run. However, Sai Sudharsan fought back with a brilliant 80 off 49 balls, hitting 10 fours and a six. He got support from Washington Sundar, who scored 48 runs. But Sudharsan’s dismissal turned the game in Mumbai’s favor, and Gujarat eventually fell short, scoring around 200 runs. Mumbai Indians will now face Punjab Kings in Qualifier 2. The winner of that clash will play Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the final on June 3 in Ahmedabad.
