Bhopal: Law College Director Removed, Grilled Over Allegations By Girls
Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The management committee of Technocrats Group of Institutions has removed its Law College director Arun Pandey after he has been accused of misconduct with four girl students. The students had approached Piplani police with their complaints on Wednesday demanding action against Pandey.
Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad activists on Friday staged protest outside the college demanding action against the accused director and ensuring the safety of girl students at the college.
The order issued by the group director, administration, on Friday said that internal complaint committee had held a meeting regarding the complaint made by the students of Law College and decided to conduct an impartial inquiry. The management committee decided that Arun Pandey will not remain director of Law College till inquiry is complete. Satish Kumar Singh has been appointed as the new director, the order stated.
The Piplani police questioned the former director Arun Pandey for two hours in connection with the allegations against him. Police officials said that Pandey denied the allegations against him and claimed that they were completely fabricated.
However, Pandey admitted having arguments with girl students over their short attendance, filling up and forwarding the examination forms, officials added.
Additional DCP (crime) Shailendra Singh Chauhan said that the college administration provided CCTV footages of the last seven days of Pandey’s office to police. The footages will be thoroughly scanned to get any clues, which support the claims of the girl students whose statements have already been recorded, he added.
The four girl students alleged that Pandey not only misbehaved with them but indulged in obscene and double meaning conversations when they approached him over attendance issue. Pandey even pressurised them to meet him alone if they wanted to appear in the examination.
The institute was recently involved in controversy over rape and blackmailing case as the prime accused Farhan and others studied at the same college. It was alleged that Farhan trapped the victims who were his fellow students and raped them. Committee formed by National Commission for Women had also visited the college and showed dissatisfaction over security arrangements for girl students.
