Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Distributes Scholarships To 1,305 Students To Mark 100 Days In Office

New Delhi: The BJP-led Delhi government on Friday distributed scholarships to students under the Delhi Higher and Technical Education Support Scheme to mark 100 days in office and underscore its push for educational equity and financial inclusion in higher education.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Education Minister Ashish Sood felicitated students at the Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women (IGDTUW), during a special disbursement programme organised by the Directorate of Higher Education.

The event aimed to support economically meritorious students pursuing higher education across various state universities in Delhi, said a statement.

Around 1,305 students received scholarships under the initiative, which has been allocated Rs 19 crore, sources said.

The event was also attended by Chief Secretary Dharmendra; Secretary, Training and Technical Education, Higher Education (TTE/HE) Nandini Paliwal; and Director (TTE/HE) Kumar Abhishek, it stated.

"This is not a report card, but a workbook. All the work done by the government will continue to be added to it," the chief minister said, while releasing a document highlighting the government's 100-day achievements earlier in the day.

Delhi CM Rekha Gupta's Statement

Addressing the scholarship event, Gupta said, "As your chief minister, I am proud to share the remarkable strides our government has made in just the first 100 days. Guided by the visionary leadership of our Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we are committed to transforming Delhi into a model of inclusive and quality education." "For the first time, students preparing for competitive exams like JEE, NEET, CUET and others will receive free coaching in Delhi government schools. We are removing financial barriers and unlocking the true potential of every child," she added.

She further said the government has committed a historic Rs 20,000 crore budget for education, covering infrastructure, digital learning, teacher empowerment and student support.

"Our vision is not just to educate but to empower to give every child the tools they need to succeed in the India of tomorrow," the CM said.

Education Minister Ashish Sood's Statement

Education Minister Ashish Sood said, "Our students are not just learners, they are the torchbearers of India's progress. Investing in their growth is not a choice but a national imperative." He said in just 100 days, the government has extended scholarship support to 1,305 deserving students across Delhi's government universities, amounting to a record Rs 19 crore. This is not a symbolic gesture but it is a bold demonstration of the government's priorities, he added.

"We are building systems that prioritise outcomes, value merit and uplift those who need support the most," Sood added.

The chief minister also informed that people will be briefed on the government's achievements over the past 100 days at an event in the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Saturday. To further spread awareness, central government ministers, along with other ministers and councillors, will visit each of the 70 assembly constituencies.

The BJP returned to power in Delhi after 26 years, securing 48 out of 70 Assembly seats in the assembly elections held in February.
