De Villiers was in Mumbai as a part of Project Mumbai, spending an entire day volunteering across the city, aiming to ignite a spirit of civic engagement.

Besides playing wheelchair cricket, de Villiers visited a BMC municipal school in Malabar Hill, picking up a paintbrush to help transform classrooms into vibrant, welcoming spaces. This initiative was part of Project Mumbai’s SATRANG program, which fosters civic pride and community participation through public space beautification.

The former South African cricketer concluded his visit at the CSSC Centre, where AB engaged with underprivileged children in a paper bag-making workshop.

Reflecting on the experience, de Villiers, who serves as Project Mumbai’s Brand Champion, said,"Mumbai has given me so much love over the years. Today, I wanted to give back not as a cricketer, but as a volunteer. There’s something truly powerful about working with others to make spaces better for children, for families, and for this incredible city."
