May is the rainiest month so far

According to IMD data, 188.9 mm of rainfall was recorded in the national capital from May 1 to May 30, which was the rainiest month of May so far. The previous record is of May 2008 when 165 mm of rainfall was recorded.
202 percent more rainfall than normal
Although the normal monthly rainfall in the month of May is 62.6 mm, but this year the total rainfall is 202 percent more than normal. In contrast, only 0.4 mm of rain was recorded in May 2024, which was 99 percent less than the monthly average. No rainy day was recorded during this period.
According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 167 at 4 pm, which falls in the ‘moderate’ category. According to the CPCB, an AQI between zero to 50 is considered ‘good’, 51 to 100 ‘satisfactory’, 101 to 200 ‘moderate’, 201 to 300 ‘poor’, 301 to 400 ‘very poor’, and 401 to 500 ‘severe’.
