Breaking: Monsoon Fury Hits Northeast and Northern India, Heavy Rain, Landslides, Flooding Paralyze Life
The onset of the monsoon has brought widespread destruction across the Northeast and Northern regions of India. Arunachal Pradesh is witnessing severe landslides due to continuous rainfall, leading to the death of seven people. Rescue operations are ongoing as debris removal continues. Assam’s capital Guwahati has been battered by relentless rains for days, causing flood-like conditions in residential areas. Streets are submerged, shops are closed, and residents are confined indoors. The situation has become so dire that schools and colleges have been shut, with water entering homes and businesses. The India Meteorological Department has issued a rain alert for Assam and surrounding regions. Sikkim, too, has been hit hard with heavy rains triggering landslides, especially in Mangan, disrupting transportation and endangering local communities. Northern states like Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand are also reeling under the impact. Jammu and Srinagar are witnessing continuous rain and hailstorms, while Dharamshala experienced a sudden drop in temperature due to snowfall. A tragic incident occurred in Uttarakhand's Rudraprayag where a pilgrim and a driver died due to a landslide, with four others injured. As monsoon rains bring some relief from the heat, they also unleash nature’s fury, disrupting lives and infrastructure across several states.
