Lara Dutta's Father L.K. Dutta Passes Away Days After 84th Birthday, Actress Gets Emotional At Funeral With Husband Mahesh Bhupathi (VIDEO)
Bollywood actress Lara Dutta's father, Retired Wing Commander L.K. Dutta, passed away on May 31, 2025 — just days after celebrating his 84th birthday on May 12, which also marked the 25th anniversary of Lara's Miss Universe win.
While the exact cause of his death remains unknown, the funeral was held earlier today at 1 PM at Santacruz Hindu Crematorium in Mumbai, where the emotional actress was accompanied by her husband, Mahesh Bhupathi.
A few days ago, the actress shared photos with her father, who was seen in a wheelchair. In one of the pictures, Lara was performing a puja. Along with the photos, she wrote, "Yesterday was a day of roller coaster emotions….. the 12th of May…….. a significant day in my life! Not just my Dads birthday, but also the day I won Miss Universe 25 years ago!. Time certainly flies!!!

She added, "Marked the day yesterday with a puja to celebrate my father’s life…… knowing full well how fleeting and fragile life is, it’s important to acknowledge and be grateful for the gifts the universe bestows upon us. Thank you for the love and for your companionship over the last 25 years!"
On the work front, Lara will be next seen in for the upcoming, Welcome to the Jungle. The cast includes Akshay Kumar, Raveena Tandon, Jacqueline Fernandez, Disha Patani, Sanjay Dutt, Suniel Shetty, Arshad Warsi, Paresh Rawal, Johnny Lever, Rajpal Yadav, Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade, Krushna Abhishek, Kiku Sharda, Daler Mehndi, Mika Singh, Rahul Dev, Mukesh Tiwari, Sharib Hashmi, Inaamulhaq, Zakir Hussain, Yashpal Sharma and Vrihi Kodvara, among others.
She also has Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana with Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi in the lead.
