IPL Most Valuable Player: How does it work, and why are none of the RCB players featured in the top 10?

The Most Valuable Player award is decided on the basis of the points system. Since the introduction of the new system in 2012, only one player has ever managed to win the MVP award and the IPL title in the same season.
