NIRCA’s vision for turmeric-based rural livelihoods in Andhra

India's turmeric cultivation reached 10.54 lakh tonnes in 2023-24, with Andhra Pradesh playing a key role. The ICAR-NIRCA is set to boost turmeric farming in the ASR district, known for its high-quality turmeric. Plans include post-harvest training for farmers, a certification system to access premium markets, and support for Farmer Producer Organizations.
