MP Crime Victim Compensation Scheme-2015; PHQ Asks District Units To Assist Women In Availing Compensation

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The Police Headquarters (PHQ) has asked all its district units to assist women in availing compensation under ‘MP Crime Victim Compensation Scheme-2015, officials said on Friday.

The state government scheme aims at providing financial support to girls and women who are victims of sexual assault, acid attacks, and other serious offences.

Recently, the women safety unit of PHQ had written to district police units highlighting that many of the women were not availing themselves of the benefit of the scheme.

In the letter they urged the district units to identify the victims and guide them through procedure to get the benefit under the scheme. The district legal services authority will examine and verify the contents of the claim with regard to the loss or injury caused to the victim.

Under the scheme, compensation is given to crime victims or their dependents, in accordance with their financial status, those who have suffered loss or injury as a result of the crime and those requiring rehabilitation.

Compensation to victims

Acid attack- ₹3 lakh

Gang rape - ₹3 lakh

Exploitation of minor- ₹2 lakh

In case of death - ₹4 lakh

In case of 40% disability - ₹ 2 lakh

Sexual exploitation (not rape)- ₹50,000

In case of foetus death- ₹50,000

Loss of motherhood- ₹1.50 lakh
