Palghar Infrastructure Update: MLA Rajendra Gavit, Collector Indu Rani Jakhar Address Farmer Grievances, Project Delays And Monsoon Readiness
Palghar, Maharashtra: As per the suggestion of MLA Rajendra Gavit and under the guidance of District Collector Dr. Indu Rani Jakhar, a joint meeting was convened involving officials from multiple infrastructure projects and affected farmers and citizens.
The meeting covered key developments including the DFCC project, Deharje project, Khadkhad Dam project, Lendi project, Mumbai-Vadodara Expressway, Mumbai-Ahmedabad Highway (NH-48), as well as the MRVC and Bullet Train projects.
Present at the meeting were Vishal Khatri (Assistant Collector, Dahanu), Apurva Basur (Assistant Collector, Jawhar), Mahesh Sagar (Deputy Collector, Land Acquisition Coordination), Tejas Chavan (Deputy Collector, Rehabilitation), Sandeep Chavan (Sub-Divisional Officer, Wada), Ravindra Rajput (Acting SDO, Palghar), Narendra Patil (District Superintendent, Land Records), along with Executive Engineers Dinesh Shevale (Deharje & Lendi Projects), Amol Funde (Superintendent Engineer, Irrigation Department), Bhagyashree Dhawalsank (Assistant Director, Town Planning), Mr. Roy from DFCC, and representatives from MRVC and the Bullet Train project.
The meeting facilitated a detailed discussion on issues related to each of the ongoing projects. The District Collector instructed all concerned officials to proactively address grievances raised by farmers and citizens affected by these projects and work toward resolving them.
Gavit emphasized key concerns raised by those affected by the Lendi, Deharje, and Mumbai-Vadodara Highway projects. He highlighted specific lapses in execution and brought them to the attention of the officials. The District Collector directed prompt action on these matters and assured follow-up. Gavit also pledged his support in resolving project-related issues that require intervention at the state government level.
Dr. Jakhar further instructed DFCC and MRVC officials to ensure proper drainage at railway construction sites and underpasses, particularly to prevent waterlogging during the monsoon. Specific locations such as Boisar-Katkarpada, Panchali RUB, Kelve Road, Rothe, and areas in Dahanu like Kasara and Junnarpada were mentioned as critical spots where water accumulation must be prevented.
Concerns were also raised regarding the substandard quality of white-topping work currently underway on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Highway between Ghodbunder and Palghar.
Participants noted that poor workmanship and inadequate drainage have led to frequent accidents during the rainy season. In response, NHAI Project Director Suhas Chitnis assured improvements in the quality of work and the implementation of effective safety measures.
The meeting concluded with constructive discussions on all issues, with authorities pledging to take necessary corrective actions.
