Thane News: Vithalwadi Police Book 2 Bogus Doctors Practicing Without License In Kalyan's Manere Village

Thane: The Vithalwadi police booked two bogus doctors for allegedly practicing for several years in Manere village in Kalyan. The Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation started a special drive to track down bogus doctors in the KDMC jurisdiction.

The doctors have been identified as Shrikrishna Kumavat and Devendra Pujari, both of whom are practicing in the area. Based on information, the health department of KDMC visited their clinic and found that they did not possess a license for medical practice.

According to the officials from KDMC, they received a complaint regarding bogus doctors who were practicing without an appropriate license from the medical authority. A team was formed and visited the Shri Sai clinic located in Manere village in Kalyan. They discovered that no license had been obtained from the medical council authorities.

Health department officials stated that during the investigation it was shown that Krishnakant Kumavat did not have any license from the medical authority, while Devendra Pujari had an electro-homeopathy degree.

According to officials, electro-homeopathy has not been recognized by the medical council, and such professionals are considered unauthorized medical professionals. An FIR has been filed by KDMc officials against them under relevant sections 33 and 36 of the Maharashtra Medical Professional Act and relevant sections 318 and 319 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Deepa Shukla, a health officer from KDMC, said, "We received information about two bogus doctors on February 7, 2024. Afterward, our team visited and checked their licenses. Following scrutiny of the licenses and other documents, we sent them to the medical council to confirm their registration with the council. We filed an FIR on May 19after the report from the medical council came in."

Police sources from Vithalwadi Police Station said, "Based on the complaint, we filed an FIR against them. We summoned them to appear at the police station to record their statements. So far, no one has been arrested. Further investigation is ongoing into the matter."
