Admn holds first randomisation of employees on election duty
The district administration on Saturday conducted the first randomisation of polling staff for the upcoming Ludhiana West byelection in the presence of District Election Officer (DEO) Himanshu Jain.
As per an official statement, the randomisation process was carried out at the NIC office using dedicated DISE software.
“The aim was to classify over 1,552 employees from the Central and state governments, banks and public sector undertakings, who have been assigned several duties during elections. The process was conducted as per guidelines of the EC to ensure fairness and impartiality in the selection of polling staff,” it said.
“The randomisation process was aimed at assigning duties to staff for the polling to take place on June 19 at 194 polling stations, including two auxilary, under the Ludhiana West jurisdiction. A separate randomisation process will be held for the counting, to be held on June 23,” it said.
The DEO reiterated that the administration was duty-bound to ensure the polling and counting held in a transparent manner.
He said the administration had put elaborate arrangements in place for the purpose.
As many as 194 polling stations, including two auxiliary, across 66 locations have been established to facilitate voting.
Prominent among those present on the occasion included ADCs Rohit Gupta, Shikha Bhagat, election tehsildar Barjinder Singh Bagga and ADIO Sanjay Sheokand.
