ASI among 3 nabbed for murdering friend
The Ludhiana police have arrested an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) and two others for killing a man after arguments.
The suspects were identified as ASI Bua Singh (55), posted at the Kailash police post, Sukhwinder Singh, alias Gagan (45), of Bhamian Kalan and Avinderpal Singh Bunty (57) of LIG Colony, Jamalpur, all friends of the victim.
ADCP Mandeep Singh, ACP Industrial-A Jasbinder Singh, SHO, Moti Nagar, inspector Amritpal Singh, addressed a press conference in this regard on Saturday.
On April 21, Ranjit Kaur, wife of Late Sohan Singh, resident of MIG Colony, Jamalpur Awana, reached the Moti Nagar police station and informed that her son Gurjinder Singh (aged about 43 years), who had gone for a walk in the park on April 16 evening, did not return home. A thorough search was made but he was not found. On the complaint of the woman and on the suspicion that her son could have been kept under wrongful confinement by some persons, a case was registered on April 21.
Police officials said when the police carried out in-depth investigation of the case, it was found that the missing man, Gurjinder Singh, who was consuming alcohol with his friends in the evening on April 16, died on the spot after being shot with a licensed revolver of the ASI, one of his friends.
The interrogation of Avinderpal, Sukhwinder, ASI Bua Singh revealed that after Gurjinder died on the spot. These persons conspired among themselves and put the body of the victim in a silver Honda Amaze car and dumped it on the road leading to the canal near Morinda, Rupnagar, the same night.
In the case, the three suspects have been arrested and the car used during the crime has also been seized. The police have added murder charge to the case.
