The National High Speed Rail Corporation is building India’s first high-speed rail line of 508 km between Mumbai and Ahmedabad. Its 352 km route will pass through nine districts of Gujarat and three districts of Maharashtra.

At what speed will the bullet train run
When these trains come to India from Japan, they will be tested. These trains will have to undergo several levels of tests in Indian geographical and climatic conditions. The speed of the bullet train in India will be 320 kilometers per hour. Some media reports have said that these trains will be trialled in India during 2026 and these trains will be fully ready to run by 2029.
The journey will be completed in two hours
The 508 km long MAHSR corridor is being developed by the National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL). This corridor will reduce the travel time between Mumbai and Ahmedabad to just 2 hours. There will be a total of 12 stations on this route, the major ones being Thane, Virar, Boisar, Vapi, Surat and Vadodara. Japanese technology has been used on this train and route.
Work is going on fast
Out of the 300 km structure, 257.4 km has been constructed using full span launching technology, due to which the work was done very fast. During this time many river bridges, steel and PSC bridges, and station buildings have also been built. So far, 383 km of piers, 401 km of foundation and 326 km of girder casting have been completed in this project. A total of 12 stations are being built on this bullet train route.
When will the bullet train start running?
India’s first bullet train station in Surat is almost ready. At the same time, the remaining work is also being completed on a war footing. It is being said that about 157 km of track bed has also been laid in Gujarat. It is expected that the trial run of the bullet train can start next year. Full service is expected by 2029.
Employment opportunities will open up
After the arrival of bullet train in India, employment opportunities will open up rapidly. Japan is bearing about 80 percent of the cost of this project through a Yen loan with a low interest rate. Apart from employment, it will also promote technical skills, trade and tourism.
