Mumbai Woman Set Ablaze: A disturbing incident has come to light from Chembur, Mumbai where a woman was allegedly set on fire by her husband following a domestic dispute. According to Mumbai Police, the woman poured kerosene over her during the argument and the accused threw a burning piece of paper at her in a fit of rage.

The woman suffered severe burns in the incident and is currently undergoing treatment at Sion Hospital.

Argument Turns Tragic

The 38-year-old woman, a domestic help, lives with her husband in Chembur. According to her statement to the police, her husband allegedly demanded sex as she was about to leave for work. She refused, saying she was running late, leading to a heated argument.

Enraged by her refusal, the husband allegedly started abusing her and questioning her character. In a fit of anger and despair, the woman allegedly poured kerosene on herself and attempted to light herself on fire with a matchstick, but failed. At that moment, her husband allegedly lit a piece of paper on the kitchen gas stove and threw it at her.

The kerosene caught fire, resulting in severe burns to her chest, stomach, legs, and hands. She was rushed to Sion Hospital and is in critical condition. Once she was able to speak, she gave a statement to the police accusing her husband of intentionally setting her on fire.

Husband Arrested

Based on the woman's complaint, the Mumbai RCF Police have registered a case against the husband under sections 109 (1), 352, and 115 (2) of the BNS (likely referring to a specific Indian penal code, needs clarification for accurate section numbers). The accused has been arrested.
