Indore: Youth Held For Raping, Inciting Woman To Commit Suicide
Indore (Madhya Pradesh): The Rajendra Nagar police detained a youth for raping a 23-year-old woman, inciting her to commit suicide by threatening to make her objectionable videos viral and extorting ₹4 lakh through blackmail, an official said on Saturday.
Rajendra Nagar police station in-charge Neeraj Birthare said that a case had been registered against Danish Khan of Juna Risala based on the woman’s complaint.
The victim reported that on April 27, 2024, she met Danish at a social event, and they became friends.
One day, the accused took her to a hotel in Vijay Nagar and got intimate with her on the pretext of marriage. He recorded her objectionable photos and videos and later using these, he blackmailed her, extorted Rs 4 lakh and raped her again. When she objected, he threatened her, saying he possessed a gun and would kill her.
The police have registered a case against the accused under sections 64, 64(2)(m) and 351(3) of the BNS, and detained him.
Woman attempted suicide
Fed up with continuous harassment, the victim attempted suicide. She alleged that in January, the accused repeatedly promised marriage but later blocked her on social media and refused to marry her.
He incited her to commit suicide by threatening to make her videos viral. The distraught victim attempted suicide by consuming a poisonous substance but was saved after receiving timely treatment. Even after she was discharged from the hospital, the accused threatened her, telling her to delete the chats and recordings in her possession and warning that he would harm her family if she did not comply.
Youth jailed for raping 15-year-old girl
A youth was arrested and sent to jail by Khajrana police for raping a 15-year-old girl who had come here for her sister’s wedding, an official said on Saturday.
Khajrana police station in-charge Manoj Sendhav said that the incident occurred on Friday at around 12 noon. The victim reached the police station with her family and lodged a complaint.
The victim had come to Indore for her sister’s wedding. In the afternoon, she went to the upper floor to dry clothes. The accused Rajmal, who was already present there, forcibly pulled the victim into a room and raped her after threatening her with dire consequences if she told anyone about the incident.
The police registered a case against accused Rajmal of Sehore for rape under sections 64(1), 351(3) of the BNS and ¾ of the POCSO Act. The police arrested the accused and sent him to jail after producing him in court.
