Reddit Post On Karaga Festival Calls Non-Kannadigas In Bengaluru 'Outsiders' Goes Viral
A Reddit post titled “This is why Kannadigas have a problem with outsiders in Bengaluru” has triggered a fresh round of online debate.
Posted under the subreddit r/Bengaluru, the post criticizes non-Kannadigas for allegedly disrespecting local traditions, particularly the Karaga festival — a centuries-old religious celebration observed in the city.
The author took issue with complaints from non-local residents who reportedly said the Karaga “disturbs their sleep” and should “evolve with the times.”
In a strongly worded rant, the original poster called non-Kannadigas "outsiders" and informed them about the festival and its significance for the native people.

The post further accused migrants of mocking festivals, refusing to learn the local language, and treating Bengaluru merely as a city of convenience without regard for its cultural fabric. “You’re not above our culture. You’re just a guest here. Learn some damn respect,” it concluded.
