Tiger’s Movement Sparks Panic In Madhya Pradesh Village, Attacks & Kills Buffalo

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A wave of fear has gripped the villagers of Madhya Pradesh’s Jhalai, located on the fringes of Panna Tiger Reserve, as a tiger has been frequently spotted prowling near the settlement.

On the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday, the situation escalated when the tiger entered the village and killed a buffalo tied outside a resident's house, increasing concerns about safety among the locals.

Tiger preys even in daylight

According to the villagers, the tiger has been preying on livestock and other animals in and around the village for the past few weeks.

Jhalai village, situated near the boundary of the Panna Tiger Reserve, often witnesses movement of the big cats.

However, this time a particular tiger has been frequently seen loitering around the village, even during broad daylight. This has heightened the fear among villagers, especially for the safety of women and children.

Parents scared to send children to school

Residents shared that late at night, they heard loud cries from the animals and rushed outside. Upon seeing the tiger, they immediately ran back into their homes for safety. The tiger killed a buffalo tied outside one of the houses and disappeared into the darkness.

Locals say the tiger’s presence has changed daily life in the village—people avoid going out after dusk, and parents are scared to send their children to school. Villagers are now demanding immediate action from the forest department to ensure their safety.

Sharing his concerns, a local villager said, “We are living in constant fear. The tiger comes into the village anytime. We can’t let our kids play outside, and we’re scared to even go out in the evening. Authorities must take this seriously before someone gets hurt.”
