SGT University hosts International Interdisciplinary Conference-2025

JAMMU, June 1: A two-day International Interdisciplinary Conference (IIC 2025) in hybrid mode organized by SGT University’s Faculty of Law, in collaboration with the Faculty of Mass Communication & Media Technology was held today.
The conference centered on the theme “Rewiring the Future Through Law, Management, Communication Technology and Engineering for a Sustainable Tomorrow,” was aimed to serve as a dynamic platform for intellectual exchange among researchers, policymakers, industry experts, academicians and students from across the globe.
Justice Harvir Singh, Judge, Allahabad High Court joined the event as the chief guest of the inaugural session whereas, Justice M M Kumar, former Chief Justice, Jammu & Kashmir High Court (Rtd.), former acting Chief Justice, Punjab & Haryana High Court was the guest of honour.
Dr M N Hoda, director of BVICAM, GGSIP University, New Delhi, participated as a special guest.
Prof Anne-Thida Norodom, former deputy director, Paris Cité University, France, who participated as a special invitee, introduced the concept of solidarity as a guiding principle for digital governance.
In her welcome address, Prof (Dr) Abha Singh, pro-Vice Chancellor of SGT University, emphasized the need for a multidisciplinary focus integrating law with humanity, sustainability, ethics and advanced technologies.
Justice M M Kumar emphasized that law is not a barrier but a catalyst for change, particularly in the landscape of cyber law and privacy protection, while Justice Harvir Singh highlighted the role of law in guiding ethical conduct and maintaining societal equilibrium essential for sustainable development.
Sudhir Mishra, founder & managing partner of Trust Legal, who joined the valedictory session as guest of honour, remarked that in this era of technological imprisonment, one is disabled from critical thinking unless exposed to interdisciplinary content, emphasizing the need for diversified learning to navigate modern complexities.
The event also included poster presentations by students and researchers, showcasing projects aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The valedictory ceremony was attended by distinguished guests including Dr Mihir Ranjan Patra, former chairperson, Department of Mass Communication, GJUST, Hisar, Dr Dilip Kumar, regional director, Indian Institute of Mass Communication, Dr Vinay Nalwa, consulting editor, Uttam Dutt and Pramod Kumar Dubey, senior advocates at the Supreme Court of India.
