'Smelled Like Cat Pee': Woman Refuses To Visit Boyfriend's House Because It's Dirty And She Can't Handle It

A Reddit post about red flags and romance has gone viral after a woman went to her boyfriend’s house and got a whiff of what she described as "cat pee and dirt". She detailed the moment on social media and decided her third date would probably be her last because she couldn't live in such filthy conditions.

The post, shared in the r/dating_advice subreddit, is titled: “Do I tell him that his dirty house is why I won't see him again?”. Well, it’s exactly as gloriously tragic as it sounds.

According to the reddit user, her mid-40s partner — who has kids part-time — invited her over for the first time. But what awaited her was less “Netflix and chill” and more a "Oh, no" experience.

She recounted being hit with a wave of dirt and cat pee smell the moment she walked in.

Do I tell him that his dirty house is why I won't see him again?

The couch? Torn up and really sticky. The blanket? So questionably clean she chose to freeze rather than risk touching it. The walls? Decorated with an elegant baseboard of dust and cat hair.

"I was afraid to touch even (the blanket) though I was cold, because I'm not sure it's ever seen a washing machine. When I got home, I washed my clothes and took a shower because I just felt dirty, although I'm sure that was just in my head", she posted.

Needless to say, she’s not going back, but she did turn to the internet for one final dilemma: whether he tell him how dirty his place was or just walk out saying it won't work.

Netizens quickly rallied around her, with nearly 200 reactions.

One summed it up with: “It’s a full-out no from me."

Another was more direct: “He might be very well aware of the level of cleanliness... Idk how likely someone in that state is to be trying to date though."
