Indore Launches 'Vocal for Local' Campaign To Promote Indigenous Goods, Boycott Foreign Clothes
Indore (Madhya Pradesh): The 'Vocal for Local' campaign is starting in Indore from today. It was started with garlanding the statue of Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar located at Rajwada.
The business organizations are going to 17 business organizations in the western area of the city and asking them to trade in indigenous goods.
The campaign is being led by Ramesh Khandelwal, President of Ahilya Chambers of Commerce. The aim of the campaign is to boycott foreign clothes, especially those from China and Bangladesh, and promote local (indigenous) clothes.
125 business organizations will take oath
On June 8, 125 business organizations of the city will take the oath of 'Local for Vocal' under the banner of Devi Ahilya Chambers of Commerce and Industry. This program is being organized with the aim of promoting self-reliant India and indigenous products. Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya, Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava, MLA Malini Gaur, Golu Shukla and National Trade Welfare Board Chairman Sunil Singhi will attend the program.
Joint Secretary Akshay Jain said that a campaign has been started to invite 17 major business organizations of the city to the program which was started by garlanding the statue of Devi Ahilya.
Jain said, "Trade relations will not be maintained with countries that pose a threat to India's sovereignty. Local products will be given priority."
The association's team appealed 92,000 people
Indore Retail Garments Association has already taken an oath not to sell foreign clothes. Traders have removed these clothes from their shops and have also burnt them symbolically. Now this movement is being spread across the city.
The campaign started today with garlanding the statue of Goddess Ahilya. After this, the business organization reached the Indore Retail Garments Association office and then from there contacted 17 big business organizations of the city like Sarafa, Kapda Market, Sitalamata Bazaar, Khajuri Bazaar, Copy-Book Association etc.
The association's team has called 92 thousand people through a call center and appealed to them not to buy foreign clothes. More than 12 people are calling every day and making people aware. So far, data of 4.5 lakh people has been prepared so that this message can be conveyed to as many people as possible.
