ZEE5 drops trailer for Shriya Pilgaonkar-led crime thriller ‘Chhal Kapat – The Deception’

On Sunday, ZEE5 released the official trailer for its latest crime-thriller web series Chhal Kapat – The Deception. Produced by Aditya Pitte and Samar Khan under their Juggernaut Productions banner, the series is centred around themes of hidden betrayals, secrets, and a chilling murder mystery, promising a binge-worthy experience for its audience.
The series will premiere exclusively on the platform on June 5, 2025. ZEE5 and lead actress, Shriya Pilgaonkar shared the trailer on Instagram, captioned, “Agar sabke sach pe shaq hai, toh kiske jhooth mein sach hai? (If everyone's truth is doubtful, then whose lie is true?”)
The trailer commences by introducing bride-to-be and influencer Alisha Singh played by actress Kamya Ahlawat. “My life is going to change completely tomorrow,” says Alisha but only to ironically end up dead the next morning, leaving all her friends and family in dismay.
Directed by Ajay Bhuyan, the series is set against the backdrop of an ancient property that is decked up for the upcoming destination wedding. The series carefully peels through the possibilities of the unfortunate incident becoming a suicide, an accident or a murder.
Pilgaonkar plays the role of a cynical but clever cop Devika Rathore who’s tasked with uncovering this gripping mystery. In an interview with Rajshri Marathi, Pilgaonkar describes her as a character sharp-eyed cop, who recently transferred to Burhanpur’s Lalbaug Police Station, and is reeling from the tragic loss of her husband.

“Your friends aren’t your friends. Your lover doesn’t love you,” says Sub-Inspector Devika Rathore in the trailer, raising the stakes by hinting at potential secrets, betrayal, and suspicion surrounding the victim’s family and friends.
“I myself as an audience, love to watch murder mysteries,” Pilgaonkar added. Previously known for her thriller roles in OTT releases such as Guilty Minds and The Broken News, this series marks yet another addition to her drama-thriller collection.
The star cast also features Ragini Dwivedi, Tuhina Das, Yahhve Sharma, Pranay Pachauri, Smaran Sahu, Anuj Sachdeva, and Keshav Lokwani.
