Tourist & Picnic Spots In Madhya Pradesh To Be Monitored; Arrangements To Be Made To Deal With Excessive Rain And Floods

Indore (Madhya Pradesh): In view of the upcoming monsoon special safety measures would be taken at popular picnic and tourist spots of the district. Also, arrangements will be made to deal with the situations arising out of excessive rain and floods.

A disaster management meeting was convened on Monday chaired by collector Asheesh Singh. During the review, the collector emphasised the importance of proactive preparations across the district to ensure a swift and effective response in case of emergencies.

Key decisions were taken to enhance safety during the rainy season. Special focus will be given to tourist and picnic spots, where robust security arrangements will be implemented. Continuous surveillance will be ensured through the installation and monitoring of CCTV cameras. Additionally, restrictive orders will be issued to prevent public access to unsafe areas.

The administration is aiming to strengthen preventive measures and improve coordination among departments to minimise risk during the monsoon period.

Disaster Control Centers (Control Rooms) have been established at the Collector's Office, IMC, Police Headquarters, MPEB and other offices at the district level for prior information and exchange of information during emergency situations. Collector Singh directed that electricity supply should be maintained continuously during monsoon.

Prior information should be given to the citizens before opening the gate of Yashwant Sagar and mines should be monitored and they must be properly fenced. Adequate arrangements must be made for water drainage. Places where waterlogging takes place should be identified in advance.

Collector Singh said that the list of inaccessible villages should be prepared in advance and an adequate amount of food grains should be stored there. It was told in the meeting that rescue and relief teams are being formed by the Home Guard. IMC commissioner Shivam Verma, Additional Police Commissioner Manoj Shrivastava, district panchayat CEO Siddharth Jain, additional collector Rinkesh Vaish and Roshan Rai along with officials of other related departments were present in the meeting.
