Weather today: Assam, Punjab, 9 other states on IMD's orange alert; thunderstorm and lightning to hit Haryana, UP

The IMD has issued an orange alert for 11 states, predicting wet spells, thunderstorms and gusty winds. A yellow alert is in effect for Delhi, with temperatures six degrees below normal. IMD issued a nowcast warning for light rainfall in parts of Uttar Pradesh and Haryana.
