ChatGPT down: Users report error messages as OpenAI faces global outages

Hundreds of customers using ChatGPT, OpenAI’s well-known AI chatbot, reported massive outage issues on Tuesday.

According to Down Detector, India had reported more than 849 cases of outages by 3.05pm.

In the meantime, over 1000 customers in the UK reported similar issues and around 500 complaints were received in the US. The outage complaints started pouring in around 12:30 and after few hours the frequency of complaints picked up.

Many shared images of the error message displayed on the website on X, asking if the AI chatbot was facing problems.

“Some users are experiencing elevated error rates and latency across listed services. We are investigating,” read a message from OpenAI.

Some netizens saw the situation as an opportunity to make memes.
