Khattar highlights J&K’s development, cyber security success

SRINAGAR, June 12: Union Minister for Power and Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs, Manohar Lal Khattar, today addressed a press conference at the Amar Singh Club in Srinagar, highlighting key achievements of the Modi-led government over the past 11 years, with special focus on Jammu and Kashmir’s development and national cyber security preparedness.

The event witnessed the presence of prominent BJP leaders including J&K BJP president Sat Sharma, Leader of Opposition J&K Sunil Sharma, Waqf Board Chairperson (MoS) Dr Darakhshan Andrabi, BJP spokesperson Altaf Thakur and media incharge for Kashmir, Sajid Yousuf Shah.
Ahead of the press briefing, senior BJP leaders jointly inaugurated an exhibition showcasing 11 years of transformative governance under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with thematic displays emphasizing innovation, infrastructure, and citizen welfare.
Addressing the media, Khattar elaborated on the significant benefits delivered to the public, particularly through the integration of technology in governance. He lauded the role of young innovators in propelling India towards self-reliance and technological strength.
In a major revelation, the Minister informed that Indian cyber security agencies successfully thwarted nearly 2 lakh cyber attacks targeting the nation’s power infrastructure during the recent Operation Sindoor. The week-long attempt was effectively neutralized, underscoring India’s robust cyber defense capabilities.
Highlighting the capabilities of Indian scientists and security experts, the Union Minister remarked that the nation now possesses the expertise to defend against such sophisticated threats, which, he warned, can originate from any part of the world.
Touching upon developments in Jammu and Kashmir, Khattar added, “Following the abrogation of Article 370, there is now a growing sense of unity. The people of Jammu and Kashmir, along with the rest of the country, increasingly believe they are one nation.
Focusing on local progress, Khattar praised the strides made in J&K’s power sector. He cited the widespread adoption of smart meters and prepaid smart meters, which have positioned the UT ahead of many Indian states in terms of energy efficiency and digital transformation.
Reaffirming the Centre’s commitment to the region, Khattar highlighted the seamless coordination between the Union Government and J&K administration. He assured that any issues flagged by UT officials would be promptly addressed to ensure smooth and timely execution of development projects.
