No life should be lost due to lack of health services: CM

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday inaugurated an advanced 3D mammography unit at Dharamshila Narayana Super Specialty Hospital, marking a significant step in strengthening the Capital’s healthcare infrastructure.

The state-of-the-art unit, equipped with fully digital technology, is designed for early detection of breast cancer, ensuring timely and accurate diagnosis and treatment.

Speaking at the inauguration, the Chief Minister underlined the emotional and physical toll cancer takes on families and said medical advancements had now made early detection and successful treatment far more achievable.

CM Gupta also highlighted the wide-ranging improvements being implemented across Delhi’s public health system. She shared that over 1,300 permanent nurses had been appointed recently, ending a recruitment freeze that lasted more than a decade. Additionally, every government hospital now had a dedicated Medical Superintendent to ensure better administration.

To make affordable healthcare more accessible, ‘Jan Aushadhi Kendras’ had been established across all government hospitals, offering medicines at discounts of 50-70 per cent. The Chief Minister also announced that Central Government schemes such as ‘Ayushman Bharat’ and ‘Vay Vandana Yojana’ had been implemented in Delhi, providing eligible citizens with free treatment benefits of up to Rs 10 lakh.

Speaking about the ongoing “Arogya Mandir” initiative, the Chief Minister said the Delhi Government was setting up 1,139 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs across the city under the Ayushman Bharat Mission to ensure that healthcare services are available within walking distance for every citizen.

CM Gupta said: “Our resolve is that no patient in Delhi should lose life due to the unavailability of health services. Our aim is to upgrade Delhi’s healthcare system to such a level that not only Indians but people from across the globe come here for treatment.”

She also lauded the contribution of doctors, calling them the real warriors of society. “Service to humanity is service to God,” the Chief Minister said, adding that the selfless dedication of doctors is a true expression of patriotism.
