32-year-old farmer killed in violent land dispute in Sirsa

A land dispute between two groups turned violent in Sirsa’s Bhavdeen village on Friday evening, resulting in the death of 32-year-old farmer Bishamber, a resident of Dariapur Shaheedanwali.

He had gone to the village to visit land he had taken on lease when a heated argument escalated into a physical clash involving sticks, iron rods, and gunfire.

During the confrontation, a member of the opposing group reportedly shot Bishamber in the leg. He was rushed to a hospital but later succumbed to his injuries.

Reports also noted severe injuries to his head and hands. Around four to five others were injured and are currently hospitalised.

Sources say the altercation involved about 20 people on each side and stemmed from ongoing tensions related to leased land in the area.

The accused fled the scene before police arrived.

Police have initiated an investigation in the case, though statements from the injured are yet to be recorded.
