Another IAF Apache helicopter makes precautionary landing; second in two weeks

Less than two weeks after an Apache helicopter of the Indian Air Force (IAF) made a "precautionary landing" in Uttar Pradesh's Saharanpur, a similar emergency landing was made in  Punjab's Pathankot district during a routine sortie on Friday.

Both the pilot and the co-pilot are safe, according to sources.

Images earlier showed the chopper in a field, somewhere in the Pathankot district, after having made the "precautionary landing".

According to the sources, the chopper had taken off from the Pathankot airbase, but later it was flown back to the base.

More details regarding the emergency landing of the IAF Apache helicopter are awaited.

Over a week ago, an Apache helicopter of the IAF made a "precautionary landing" in Saharanpur due to a technical issue while on a routine sortie.

All necessary checks were conducted after the landing, and the helicopter was made serviceable. Both the pilot and the co-pilot had then flown it to the Sarsawa airbase in Saharanpur, the official had said on June 6.

IAF had signed a contract with the US in 2015, for 22 Apache helicopters, capable of carrying out precision attacks at standoff ranges and operating in hostile airspace with threats from the ground.
