Sources reveal the film is set in Punjab and follows a young couple whose love is tested and torn apart by the turmoil of Partition. “Set in the 1940s, the movie looks at Partition and its after-effects from the lens of two lovers. Though still untitled, the upcoming film boasts an impressive cast that includes Diljit Dosanjh, veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah, and rising stars Vedang Raina and Sharvari. Industry sources suggest the shoot is scheduled to begin in August 2025, with a theatrical release planned for Baisakhi 2026.
Offering a glimpse into the film’s emotional tone, Imtiaz Ali said in a statement: “Tum mere paas hote ho goya, Jab koi doosra nahin hota’ (‘You are with me, however, When there is no one else’) - Momin. Can love really be lost? Can home be taken away from someone’s heart?”
