Directions issued to energy dept to ensure uninterrupted power: Vij

Haryana Energy Minister Anil Vij said that officers of the Energy Department have been instructed to ensure uninterrupted power supply to the people of the state.

The minister said that the Superintending Engineers (SEs) were also directed to send a daily report explaining the reason for any power cut or outage in their respective areas. Vij said any officer who fails to comply with these directives would face strict disciplinary action.

Vij made these remarks while responding to media queries in Delhi about the power supply during the summer in Haryana.

The Cabinet Minister said that instructions were issued to the Additional Chief Secretary of the Energy Department to ensure that each SE submits a detailed daily report on power supply outages in their jurisdiction, specifying for how many hours power was unavailable and the reasons behind it. That report must be submitted to the Energy Minister.

He said that there was no shortage of electricity in Haryana. The state has its own power-generation facilities and has also entered into long-term agreements to ensure stable electricity procurement. He reiterated that Haryana’s maximum power requirement is 16,000 megawatts and the entire supply has already been secured.

Anil Vij further stated that the Energy Department is fully prepared to meet the electricity demands, particularly during summer.

Vij informed that transformer banks have been established in all circles before the onset of summer to prevent any issues related to transformer replacement. He also directed that adequate vehicles and ample staff should be ensured to replace the non-functional transformers. During a recent meeting in Chandigarh with officials of the Energy Department, clear instructions were given to ensure uninterrupted power supply to all consumers across the state.
