The police booked five persons for allegedly duping people on the promise of sending them abroad. A case was registered against Ramandeep Kaur, Taranpreet Singh, Ajitpal Singh, Pradeep Singh and Ajay Kumar at the Gandhi Nagar police station of Yamunana on the complaint of Lovely Bansal of Jagadhri. Bansal told the police that there was office of an immigration company near Kanhaiya Sahib Chowk in Yamunanagar.

He said operators of the immigration company assured to send him to Australia on a work visa. He further said they told him to pay Rs 18 to Rs 20 lakh for getting the work visa. He said several people gave them huge amounts to go abroad.

“We were called to handover visa documents and tickets in Delhi on June 10. At least 70 to 80 people reached the specified place in Delhi on June 10, but nobody from the immigration firm was available there,” Bansal alleged. He said mobile phones of the company operators were switched off. He said thereafter, the office of the firm was also found closed.
