Thousands traverse Manali-Leh highway, visit Sarchu, Koksar, Darcha
Successfully managing traffic, Lahaul-Spiti district police have ensured a smooth and hassle-free travel experience for thousands of motorists along the Manali-Leh highway from May 16 to June 12. According to data released by the Sarchu Police check-post, a total of 17,680 vehicles traversed the high-altitude route during this period, with 8,418 inbound (towards Leh) and 9,262 outbound (towards Manali) vehicles recorded.
According to Lahaul and Spiti SP Ilma Afroz, the entire duration witnessed unhindered traffic flow, owing to the Lahaul-Spiti Police’s proactive measures and efficient monitoring, especially in border and high-sensitivity areas such as Sarchu, Koksar, Darcha and other critical points.
“Key initiatives undertaken are regular monitoring of vehicles at police checkpoints, round-the-clock patrolling to ensure strict compliance with traffic regulations and emergency response teams stationed and prepared to provide immediate assistance," the SP said.
The SP commended the efforts of the district police force and appealed to all travellers to continue adhering to traffic rules for their own safety and for the efficient management of this vital transit corridor. She further encouraged the public to contact the nearest police check post, outpost, or station in case of emergencies or assistance.
