CII’s volunteers lead road safety drive

A group of environmental enthusiasts, members of Young Indians (Yi), Gurugram, the social arm of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), gathered on Saturday morning to embark on a combined clean-up and road safety drive.

The initiative, carried out in close collaboration with the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) and the Haryana Traffic Police, aimed not only to beautify the streets but also to identify and address potential road safety hazards, ensuring a safer environment for the community.

The energy and enthusiasm of the young volunteers were palpable as they divided into teams and tackled different aspects of the initiative. MCG staff broomed the streets efficiently, while Yi members meticulously picked up plastic waste, contributing significantly to a cleaner and greener Sector 29. The total amount of plastic waste collected during the drive amounted to 30 kg.

Beyond the immediate clean-up efforts, the team also focused on enhancing road safety for the public. They carefully identified areas requiring attention-such as potholes, malfunctioning traffic signals and inadequate signage. This information will be vital for the MCG and traffic police to prioritise and implement necessary repairs and improvements. The event concluded with fun-filled activities for children, including a drawing and colouring competition themed on climate and road safety.
