Thieves cut ATM with gas cutter, loot ₹24 lakh
Unknown miscreants used a gas cutter to break open an ATM installed in a shop on the Ferozpur Jhirka–Biwan road in Nuh district and looted Rs 24 lakh in the early hours of Saturday. The thieves arrived in a car and fled the spot within five minutes of committing the crime. The entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras. An FIR has been registered at Ferozpur Jhirka Police Station and police are reviewing the CCTV footage for clues. According to the complaint filed by an official of CMS Info System Company, Gurugram, the company had installed an HDFC Bank ATM on the Ferozpur Jhirka–Biwan road. A cash van arrived on Friday at around 1 pm and due to the bank holidays on Saturday and Sunday, around Rs 38 lakh was deposited in the ATM. Of this, approximately Rs 14 lakh was withdrawn through various transactions, leaving Rs 24 lakh in the machine overnight.
“An FIR has been registered and a probe is underway,” said Inspector Jagbir Singh, SHO of the Ferozpur Jhirka police station.
