Lessons in calm Teachers learn to manage stress

Over 55 teachers from various prominent schools learnt about stress management during a one-day workshop organised by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on June 14 at St Thomas’ School, Shimla. The main objective of the workshop was to apprise teachers of what stress is and how it can be managed.

Participants included teachers from Trinity International School, Fagu; Rashtriya Military School, Chail; Raja Dilip Singh Memorial School, Halog; Chapslee School, Shimla; and Lakshya Convent School, Arki, along with teachers from St Thomas’ School.

The keynote speakers and resource persons for the workshop were Dr Shivani Sharma, Principal, Cecil Convent Senior Secondary School, Ambala Cantt, and Dr Rakesh Sachdeva, currently a resource person with CBSE, who conducted the workshop throughout the day.

At the beginning of the programme, the Vice-Principal of the host school, Sharon Nanda, welcomed the resource persons and participating teachers.

As a mark of respect, the Principal and all present observed two minutes of silence in solemn remembrance of the lives lost in the Air India tragedy in Ahmedabad. A brief overview of the workshop was also presented to the participants.

At the conclusion of the event, St Thomas’ School’s STNC, Anshul Sharma, expressed gratitude to the keynote speaker Dr Shivani Sharma, Principal of Cecil Convent Senior Secondary School, Ambala Cantt and Dr Rakesh Sachdeva of CBSE, as well as to the teachers who had travelled from other schools.
