CM Dhami Expresses Grief Over Kedarnath Crash, Urges Strict Action After 4th Mishap in 1.5 Months
Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic helicopter crash near Kedarnath, terming it an “extremely painful” incident. In a post shared on social media platform X, the CM stated that SDRF, local administration, and other rescue teams are actively engaged in relief and rescue operations. He also prayed to Baba Kedar for the well-being of all passengers. The Aryan Aviation helicopter, which crashed near Gaurikund-Sonprayag in Rudraprayag, had seven people onboard, although only four passengers were reportedly allowed under safety norms. This violation of capacity guidelines has once again raised serious concerns about heli-operator compliance. This is the fourth such helicopter accident within the last 45 days of the Char Dham Yatra season. Despite CM Dhami holding review meetings recently to ensure safety, the repeated mishaps point toward operational negligence, inadequate weather prediction systems, and poor regulation enforcement. Most of the helicopters operating in the region are single-engine, raising questions about their suitability for the unpredictable weather and mountainous terrain. An earlier viral image from June 7 showed a helicopter making an emergency landing on a road, damaging a car — further spotlighting the fragile state of aerial safety in Uttarakhand.
