Two Youths Arrested For Rape, Qadri Booked For Conspiracy; Gave Them ₹3 Lakh For Marrying Girls From A Different Community
Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Two youths were arrested on Sunday after a video showed them alleging that corporator Anwar Qadri persuaded them to marry girls from other religions and gave them Rs 3 lakh for this act.
Two cases were registered against the youths under various sections and in both the FIRs, Qadri’s name was added for conspiracy. Qadri could not be arrested till the time this report was filed.
According to the police, people from a Hindu organisation caught two youths named Sahil Sheikh and Altaf for allegedly taking money from Qadri to marry two girls from a different community.
In their video, Sahil divulged that Qadri gave him Rs 2 lakh for marriage with a girl from a different community and Altaf said that he got Rs 1 lakh from Qadri for the same.
Banganga police station in charge Siyaram Singh Gurjar informed the Free Press that after watching the video, two separate cases were registered against the accused and they were arrested soon afterwards.
They disclosed the name of Qadri so his name was also added in the FIRs for conspiracy. He would be arrested soon, Gurjar added. The cases have been registered for rape with the girls and under the Freedom of Religion Act. Further investigations are on and the video is being verified.
Qadri was arrested last month
Anwar Qadri Corporator Anwar Qadri and local traders’ association head Razik Baba were arrested after a video surfaced allegedly showing ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ slogans being raised during a protest held in the city’s Badwali Chowki area in the first week of May.
The protest, organised on April 25 to condemn the Pahalgam terror attack, took a controversial turn after the video emerged on April 30. Based on the contents of the video, an FIR was registered under the relevant section of BNS. Police had arrested Qadri and Baba, both of whom were identified as leading the protest.
