MC carries out cleanliness drive at Yamunanagar gaushala

As part of the ‘Swachhata Pakhwada’ campaign, a team from the Municipal Corporation Yamunanagar-Jagadhri (MCYJ) carried out a cleanliness drive at the gaushala located in Geeta Bhawan, Yamunanagar.

Several social organisations also lent their support to the MCYJ, helping clean the gaushala premises and the surrounding areas.

According to available information, on the instructions of Mayor Suman Bahamani and Commissioner of the MCYJ Akhil Pilani, the Swachhata Pakhwada campaign is being run across the twin cities of Yamunanagar and Jagadhri from June 1 to 21.

Under this initiative, a team from the MCYJ reached the gaushala. The team was accompanied by the Municipal Corporation’s IEC Expert Pooja Agarwal, Srishti Jan Kalyan Samiti oresident Meenu Chaswal, Sneh Seva Trust National president Mamta Sen, Shreeji Seva Trust president Neeru Chauhan, secretary Neeraj Kalra, Sudarshan foundation president Sandeep Bajaj, All India Samaj Seva Kendra president Manmohan Singh and representatives from other organisations.

After cleaning the gaushala and the surrounding areas, they also fed fruit and other food items to the cows.

The MCYJ team educated the gaushala staff about the importance of not disposing of cow dung and grass in drains, avoiding the use of polythene bags and separating dry and wet waste for proper disposal.

“Besides social organisations, other local people also co-operated with the MCYJ team in the cleaning work at the gaushala. They also raised awareness among residents living near the gaushala about cleanliness. They encouraged people not to throw rubbish in the open, to separate dry and wet waste, to place it in MCYJ collection vehicles and to avoid using banned polythene bags,” said Additional Municipal Commissioner Dheeraj Kumar.

Deputy Municipal Commissioner Kuldeep Malik stated that people were urged not to discard old household items in open areas, but to donate them to Triple R (Recycle, Reuse and Reduce) centres.

He appealed to residents to participate in the Municipal Corporation’s campaign and to pay special attention to cleanliness.
