Major water and irrigation projects underway in Shahpur: Pathania z
Congress Deputy Chief Whip in the Vidhan Sabha, Kewal Singh Pathania, said in the Shahpur Assembly constituency, the Jal Shakti Department is spending about Rs 80 crore on various drinking water schemes, Rs16 crore on irrigation schemes and Rs 56.56 crore on developing sewerage infrastructure.
He said that effective steps were being taken to provide improved drinking water facilities in rural areas. Alongside this, departmental officers have been instructed to take appropriate measures for the conservation of traditional drinking water sources, so that no shortage is faced at any level.
Pathania said that phased development of the rural areas of the Shahpur Assembly constituency was being ensured and initiatives were being taken to provide improved road, health and education facilities in these regions. He noted that the current government was placing special emphasis on strengthening the rural economy and that Himachal Pradesh had become the first state in the country to offer minimum support price on milk.
The government was also promoting natural farming. He said that the Raiet Block was being included under the Shiva Project, with the aim of promoting horticulture and strengthening the economic condition of local farmers.
He said that the Congress government was working diligently to make Himachal Pradesh a self-reliant state by the year 2027 and the most prosperous state in the country by 2031. Earlier, he inaugurated an electric-powered water handpump in Shahpur town.
