'Kuberaa' trailer out: A never-explored-before duo in a world reigned by power and money

After winning the hearts of his fans using his charm in helming feel good movies, director Sekhar Kammula is back after a four-year hiatus. His latest, Kuberaa, is a bold detour from his usual work, pulling us into a dark and intriguing terrain. With the debut trailer officially out, fans get a first glimpse into a world mired in power, money and betrayal.

As the trailer takes off, Dhanush, who plays an unassuming beggar, Deva, poses a peculiar question about the value of crores. With the intent of stopping the growth of a corrupt oligarch (Jim Sarbh), a duty-bound police officer Deepak (Nagarjuna) joins hands with Deva. As the trailer progresses, the audience can see an array of scenes, showcasing the bond between the duo – Deepak affectionately introduces him to Deva and, later on, helps him don a coat. The trailer reaches its peak, exposing the nuances of Deva’s character as he runs off in between the mission, leaving the government’s mission at stake. Parallel to the mission, the trailer also explores Deva’s relation with Sameera (played by Rashmika Mandanna).

With high-octane action, the trailer portrays the inequalities that can rise in a society fixated with control and dominance. In an interesting conversation, Sameera comments how the ordinary people do not have a right over power, police and court, and Deva argues that the world is not just for some people, that even an ordinary man like him can have a right over it.

Produced by Suniel Narang and Puskur Ram Mohan Rao, the movie marks the first onscreen pairing of Dhanush and Nagarjuna. With Devi Sri Prasad handling the score, the pulsating background beats add rhythm to the thriller. The movie also witnesses a stellar cast comprising Priyanshu Chatterjee, Dalip Tahil, Ravi Sharma and K Bhagyaraj.

The film, slated for a theatrical release on June 20, will be available in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi.
