5 Must-Have Dishes At Mumbai's Swati Snacks
Swati Snacks has been a beloved Bombay staple since 1963, a place where tradition meets timeless comfort. Known for celebrating the diversity of regional Indian cuisine, it offers a curated menu rooted in Gujarati flavours with a modern twist.
Everyone from global stars to locals loves this iconic eatery in the city. “We are three generations of the Ambani family who cannot live without eating a meal from Swati at least once a week,” Mukesh Ambani shared in Asha's Jhaveri's book, A Culinary Journey.
So, if you're planning to visit Mumbai's Swati Snacks anytime soon, here are five dishes you absolutely must try when visiting this iconic eatery.
Panki
Delicate, steamed rice pancakes cooked between banana leaves, this dish is the heart of Swati snacks. It's light, fragrant, and perfectly paired with green chutney. A user on Instagram, named Devina Shah, shared her experience at this popular spot and also highlighted her favourite Panki dish.
She expressed, "Swati’s Snacks: where generations wait in line to feast on veggie Gujarati snacks. A must order is Suva Panki – a dill rice pancake steamed in banana leaf."
Chaat

Swati Snacks began its eatery by serving a small selection of homemade chaat treats and is now serving an array of pani puri, dahi chaat and more. Their take on chaat is a burst of texture and flavour with crisp, tangy, and spiced just right.
A food blogger duo, Zainab and Tanisha, highlighted their favourites. "Quick bite at @swatisnacks. The must go spot when in Bombay. My favs are their pani puri and panki," they noted.
Vatana Muthiya Shak with Pudina Jowar Roti
This wholesome Gujarati-style dish with green peas hits the spot, especially when scooped with their fresh, minty jowar roti. It's hearty and packed with flavour.
An Instagram handle, named Panfusine, highlighted its flavours. The user wrote, "No trip to Mumbai is complete without a stop at @swatisnacks, the iconic #panki with chutney, #misalpav and Vatana muthiya shak with Pudina (mint) jowar roti washed down with fresh squeezed #sugarcane juice." If your appetite is high, then you must try this combo.
Pav Bhaji
While known for its flavour-packed Gujarat foods, their street favourite Pav Bhaji is not a miss. Rich, buttery, and bold, it is all about the perfect mash of spices served with soft buns toasted to golden perfection.
A traveller, Rhiannon Davies, also visited Swati Snacks and tried their pav bhaji. Sharing her experience, the user posted, "Swati snacks is a bit of an institution in Mumbai, popular among both locals and tourists. They offer a wide range of vegetarian snacks, which are some of the best I tried during my time in India."
"Pictured is the pav bhaji, sev puri (crispy fried discs topped with potatoes onions and tomatoes), and dahi batata puri. The latter is probably one of the tastiest little bites I’ve ever put in my mouth - basically puris filled with yoghurt and chutneys. I could eat a million of them!" she concluded.
Paneer Chilla and Sugarcane Juice
For health-conscious foodies, you can try oats and paneer chilla. Its guilt-free, protein-packed delight made from oats and paneer is the perfect modern addition that's light yet filling, ideal.
Breakfastvoyagers, a food blogger duo, also reflected on Swati Snacks' indulging breakfast meal. They shared, "Paan ki chutney, oats paneer chilla and to beat the heat sabka favourite “ganne ka juice'. Brunch couldn’t get better than this."
