Maharashtra Rains News: IMD Issues Orange Alert & Red Alert For Mumbai, Thane, Palghar And Raigad For Upcoming Days
Mumbai: According to the latest weather update by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), orange alert indicating heavy rainfall in Mumbai, Thane and Palghar regions where a red alert indicating heavy to very heavy rainfall in Raigad and Pune regions.
According to IMD, the Northern Limit of Monsoon is positioned at 17.0°N/55°E, extending through several coordinates to Puri and Balurghat, reaching 30°N/85°E. The southwest Monsoon is active in Konkan-Goa, South-centre Maharashtra, and Gujarat, while remaining weak in Marathwada and normal across North-centre Maharashtra, Saurashtra, and Kutch.
Isolated locations in South Madhya Maharashtra experienced extremely heavy rainfall, while very heavy rainfall occurred in Konkan and Madhya Maharashtra. Rainfall was widespread in Konkan, many areas of South Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Saurashtra-Kutch, with scattered showers in North Maharashtra and Marathwada.
IMD Weather Forecast For Upcoming Days:
Day 1 (16-06-2025): Moderate to heavy rainfall expected in most places in Konkan-Goa, many areas in South Maharashtra, and few areas in North Maharashtra. Light to moderate rainfall or thundershowers likely in isolated areas of Marathwada.
Day 2 (17-06-2025): Similar conditions persist as on Day 1, with moderate to heavy rainfall in Konkan-Goa and few areas of Maharashtra and isolated thundershowers in Marathwada.
Day 3 (18-06-2025): Expected moderate rainfall at most places in Konkan-Goa and few areas in South Maharashtra, light to moderate in North Maharashtra and isolated thundershowers remain in Marathwada.
Day 4 (19-06-2025): Moderate rainfall in Konkan-Goa, few places in South Maharashtra, and isolated areas in North Maharashtra, with light rain in Marathwada.
Day 5 (20-06-2025): Moderate in Konkan-Goa, light to moderate in South Maharashtra, and isolated thundershowers in Marathwada.
Thunderstorm activity has been noticed in scattered regions of north-central Maharashtra. Saurashtra and Gujarat experienced notable temperature decreases on Sunday, whereas other areas stayed consistent. Maximum temperatures were higher than normal in South Gujarat, lower than normal in South Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada, and normal in other areas.
Notable wind speeds measured are Devgad (65 kmph), Alibaug (59 kmph), and Dhapoli (50 kmph) in Konkan; Kurvande (91 kmph) and Mahabaleshwar (54 kmph) in Madhya Maharashtra, with Narayangaon (46 kmph) and Karjat (44 kmph) also significant.
The highest maximum temperature reached was 40.3°C at V.V. Nagar. Weather predictions indicate moderate to heavy rains for Konkan-Goa and some areas of central Maharashtra in the coming days, while other districts may experience differing levels of precipitation.
