Broken roads, waterlogging plague Bhiwani’s Sector 23

Regarded as one of the posh residential areas of Bhiwani town, Sector 23 is now grappling with a plethora of civic problems, including broken roads, choked sewer lines and persistent waterlogging, which have made everyday life of residents miserable.

Residents alleged that despite repeated complaints, no concrete action has been taken by the administration, leaving them in distress.

A member of the Residents Welfare Association (RWA), Mahender Singh Sheoran, expressed his anger and demanded urgent resolution of these long-standing issues. He stressed that several roads and streets in the locality, particularly the stretch heading from House No. 650 to 675, were in a deplorable condition.

“We are suffering on account of the administrative apathy,” Sheoran said. “Basic infrastructure is collapsing. Roads are so damaged that driving has become hazardous. Sewer lines are completely blocked and dirty water from these drains overflows on streets regularly. Recent light rain has only made matters worse, with water accumulating everywhere,” he said.

Sheoran said he had raised these issues before several authorities, including Deputy Commissioner; Municipal Council chairperson and even during meeting of the District Grievances Committee that was chaired by former Minister Anoop Dhanak. “Though the Deputy Commissioner visited the area and promised resolution of the issues, no visible measures have been taken so far in this connection. Residents are now forced to live in miserable and almost inhuman conditions,” he said.

Many other residents, including Banti Kadian, Sumitra Kataria, Saroj Ghanghas, Pramila Lathar, Sudesh, Ekta, Karambir Kataria, Karan Singh and Vijay Sharma, also echoed similar sentiments, while adding that their repeated pleas had fallen on deaf ears.

Sumitra Kataria said, “We have elderly people and children in the neighbourhood. Waterlogging and filth are making our surroundings unsafe and unhygienic. If the administration does not respond soon, we will be forced to come out in street and protest,” she said.
