From Mandi with honour: Vaibhav Thakur set to join CISF as Assistant Commandant

In a moment of immense pride for Mandi and the entire Himachal Pradesh, Vaibhav Thakur, a resident of Bhiuli (Mandi town), has secured All India Rank 21 in the prestigious UPSC Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) Examination 2024. He is now poised to serve the nation as an Assistant Commandant in the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).

Vaibhav’s success is the culmination of three years of relentless hard work, marked by discipline, perseverance and unwavering support from his family. His journey stands as a testament to the power of consistent effort and inner motivation.

Currently, Vaibhav has also qualified the UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2024 and is now fully dedicated to preparing for the Mains, clearly indicating his deep-rooted commitment to public service.

Academic & sporting excellence

Vaibhav completed his schooling at DAV School, Mandi, and pursued his BSc from SD College, Chandigarh. A high achiever both in academics and sports, he represented Mandi district in Under-14, Under-16 and Under-19 cricket tournaments, showcasing a well-rounded personality that has been pivotal to his development.

A family of inspiration

Vaibhav draws strength from a family steeped in values of discipline and service. His father, Surender Thakur, works as a Senior Medical Representative with an international pharmaceutical company, while his mother, Bharti, is a devoted homemaker. His grandfather, Dinga Singh, a retired Inspector in the Himachal Pradesh Police, has been a major source of guidance and inspiration. Though the family now resides in Bhiuli, they originally hail from Sanoor village in Sari Panchayat, Dharampur Assembly Constituency.
