Palampur’s education revolution: Free coaching for top schools, NDA

In a landmark initiative to empower students in Palampur and surrounding areas, the Palampur Municipal Corporation has announced a free specialised coaching programme for entrance exams to Sainik School, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV), Rashtriya Military School (RMS) and the National Defence Academy (NDA).

The decision was taken during a high-level meeting held on Monday, chaired by Dr Ashish Sharma, Commissioner of Palampur Municipal Corporation and attended by Palampur SDM Netra Meti (IAS), Deputy Mayor Raj Kumar and Abhay Jeet Singh Akela, CMD of the Him Vidyarthi Foundation.

Scheduled to begin in the first week of July, the programme will be led by subject experts and seasoned educators. Its objective is to provide quality coaching and holistic guidance to students aiming to secure admission to these prestigious institutions.

To prepare aspirants thoroughly, a mock entrance test will be conducted in the last week of June. This test will help students evaluate their strengths and identify areas for improvement in a simulated exam environment. Registration forms will be distributed through participating schools and students are required to submit their forms via their school authorities.

Dr Sharma shared an encouraging update: in the previous academic year, 16 out of 20 enrolled students successfully gained admission to Sainik School — underscoring the effectiveness of the initiative. The MC now aims to extend this opportunity to a wider student base.

Reaffirming support, Dr Sharma assured that the Municipal Corporation, in collaboration with the Him Vidyarthi Foundation, will provide all necessary infrastructure and academic support to ensure the programme’s success.

Students from Classes V, VI, VIII, IX and XII (both girls and boys) are eligible to apply and are encouraged to contact the Palampur Municipal Corporation office to register for the mock test by the end of June.
