Shimla law varsity, IIT-Delhi join hands to empower researchers

Faculty members, research scholars and library professionals learned about research identity management and open scholarly communication practices during a one-day workshop on ORCID and Open Access Publishing that was organised by the Himachal Pradesh National Law University (HPNLU), Shimla, in academic collaboration with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi.

The workshop was formally inaugurated by the Prof Priti Saxena, Vice-Chancellor, HPNLU, who underscored the significance of adopting open science principles to improve institutional research visibility and strengthen global academic engagement.

The sessions were conducted by Dr Mohit Garg, Assistant Librarian (Senior Scale), IIT-Delhi, who delivered comprehensive presentations and live demonstrations on key topics, including ORCID integration, Open Access publishing models and the use of journal publishing platforms such as Open Journal Systems (OJS) and Janeway. The event was coordinated by Dr Santosh Kumar Sharma, library in-charge, and Arun Kumar, assistant librarian, HPNLU.

The workshop saw active and enthusiastic participation from faculty, researchers and library professionals, marking a successful initiative toward fostering a culture of open, transparent, and impactful research within the academic community.
