No wrong done, Head Granthi backs Mehron
The Golden Temple Head Granthi, Malkiat Singh, today “came out in the support” of Amritpal Singh Mehron — key accused in the murder of social media influencer Kanchan Kumari.
He said Kanchan Kumari had adopted a Sikh name to malign the image of the community. Her name gave an impression that she was from a Sikh family, said Malkiat.
He said no wrong was committed by Mehron, who had fled to the UAE hours after committing the crime.
He added that the Sikh history was replete with incidents wherein those resorting to lecherous and indecent activities had been punished.
Speaking on the foundation day of the Akal Takht, Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj said efforts were underway to disconnect the Sikh youth from their Gurus through moral decay.
He called on the community to come together under the divine authority of the Akal Takht and protect Gurus’ principles.
