Brief: Copper wires of Rs 70K stolen

Phagwara: In a theft incident in Chahal Nagar, miscreants broke into a partially renovated house and decamped with copper wiring worth ?70,000. House owner Gaurav stated that he had recently procured wiring for renovation purposes, part of which had already been installed. The theft occurred around 2:30 am, as per footage recovered from CCTV cameras. Gaurav has filed a complaint with the police. oc

Man held with illegal liquor

Phagwara: The Excise Department, in collaboration with the police, arrested one person involved in the illegal liquor trade. Officials arrested Sham Lal of Dhakk Pandori and registered cases against three individuals, Sham Lal, Boota Ram of Sitla Mata Mandir Colony, and Bittu Ram of Dhakk Pandori. Excise Inspector Manjit Kaur reported the seizure of 87,750 ml of illicit liquor and 23,400 ml of beer from the accused. oc

Phagwara: A land lease dispute turned violent when five persons allegedly assaulted a man near Bhandal Bet village. Complainant Karamjit Singh informed the police that he had acquired 18 acres of panchayati land that was previously leased to Balbir Singh. Following argument during a meeting at the BDPO office, the situation escalated. Karamjit was later beaten up by the accused. oc

Phagwara: Four persons have been booked in connection with a house burglary in village Bhanolanga. Complainant Joginder Singh reported that his house was found with broken locks and missing valuables. The police registered a case against Ajju, Dabbu and Kali of Bhanolanga and Parmeshwar of Latiyawal. oc

Phagwara: The Shahkot police have arrested a villager on the charge of brewing and selling illicit liquor. As much as 1,000 litre of lahan was seized from the possession of the accused Ajay Pal Singh of Raharrwan village. oc

agent booked for duping

Phagwara: The Nakodar police have booked a travel agent for allegedly duping a Nakodar resident of Rs 2 lakh on the pretext of migrating him abroad. The accused has been identified as Sahil Hans, a resident of Kakipind village in Jalandhar. Amandeep of Mohalla Santokhgarh, Nakodar, complained to the SSP that he paid Rs 2 lakh to the accused for facilitating his migration abroad. oc

Three booked for kidnapping

Phagwara: The Nakodar police have booked three members of a family on the charge of kidnapping a minor girl. The accused have been identified as Prince of Sarihn village, his mother Charanjit Kaur, and sister Parmindar Kaur. The mother of the victim told the police that the accused kidnapped her minor daughter on the pretext of marriage. oc
